What is the best way to build my credit rating?

I got a credit card and catalogues as i was told that was the best way, i make all my payments on time but still i cant get credit, i have one default from an overpayment that got made to me by a previous employment but i pay that every month and it isnt alot, any help would be great1 cheers guys x

I will give you a personal experience. My son had NO credit and he couldn't borrow money anywheree. He needed a car, so we picked out a car and then went to the credit union wher he app;lied for a loan. I had to cosign for him, but to protect myself, i insisted that the payment be withdrawn from his bank account each month,. That way it was paid on time. Loan was for 3 yrs. When the first year was up, we went back and the credit union took MY name off the account, and refinanced it in his name. After i yr of payments on time, his credit score was 705. Not bad. Now he gets offers for credit. Moral.--Make your payments on time and at LEAST the required amount. More is better yet.
Reply:Contact a credit bureau to correct the delinquency. Get credit and don't use it.
Reply:continue to pay your bill on time and you may want to open a secured credit card





don't go overboard with applying for credit because you will only be hurting your score





too many credit inquiries is not a good thing
