Where can I get a personal loan if I don't own a home and have a poor credit rating?

Can't get payday loans in my state.

Where can I get a personal loan if I don't own a home and have a poor credit rating?
I am not aware of a way for you to get a personal loan based on what you have said, however you should be able to get a credit card which would help you turn your poor credit rating into a more positive one. The only way to get good credit is to use credit, and pay your bills on time.

Some credit card companies such as Orchard Bank and First Premier specialize in this type of situation. It doesn't mean you are going to get lousy rates either. Many of these companies will start you with a small credit limit like $200 and steadily increase that limit as you pay your bill on time. You don't need to make more than the minimum payment in order to establish better credit either. Just use the card, and pay at least the minimum on time every month. By doing this, you are accomplishing a couple of things:

1) By paying on time, you will be eligible for more credit

2) You will be improving your overall credit rating/score which is necessary for obtaining mortgages, car loans, etc.

Don't listen to people who tell you that you shouldn't use credit either. You need a credit history of typically 2 years before many "A" banks (high quality loan) will give you a mortgage and you need to have been given credit limits (the amount you are allowed to charge) that are substantial. While this is somewhat subjective, suffice it to say that a credit limit of $500 - $1,000 isn't substantial. The key is not using more credit than your income will support which is another bind you can get yourself into if you are not careful. Credit card companies are not interested in your best interest. They want you to charge up your limit, pay the minimum balance each month, and keep on charging. It is up to you to limit your credit usage to levels that will allow you to be offered more credit. That means try to keep your balances at less than 80%, preferrably less than 60-65% of your limits at most times. For example, if you have a $1,000 credit limit, try not to owe more than $600 - $650 at most. This will keep you from overextending yourself while also giving you some access to money in the event of an emergency.

Good luck, and BE CAREFUL!
Reply:Your state is doing you a favor by not having payday loan places. Those legalized loan sharks can charge you up to 403% APR and their billing periods are every 14 days instead of the traditional 30 days. Look at Prosper.com. This is a company of where people lend money to other people. This is the Ebay for money. The site has plenty of good and free information for you. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. This is not a scam. Prosper is located in California and has been featured on major TV networks and magazines. Good Luck to You.
