Hello everyone
I am posting this question because i ve recently failed a credit rating check to get a mobile contract. After receiving my credit report, I noticed that my bad rating is due to the fact that i am not registered on the uk electoral roll.
I ve been living in the uk for the last 7 years but I am a french citizen. Do I need to register on the UK electoral roll?
Thank you
Do europeans have to register on the UK Electoral Roll (credit rating)?
Yes you should register. It is a big factor in credit scoring.
Here is an excellent article on credit scoring in the UK
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking...
It states that:
"Get on the electoral roll. If you're not on the roll, it's unlikely you'll get any credit. Write to your local council to ensure you are. For those who aren't eligible to vote (mainly foreign nationals), send all the credit reference agencies proof of residency and ask them to add a note to verify this."
Reply:If you are living here then you must- you are required to by UK law. Go to your local council and ask them to put you on it.
Reply:yes and as soon as your do your problems should go away!!!!
Reply:yes
