If someone on my joint credit card account misses his/her mortgage payment, can it hurt my credit rating?

Hello! I opened a joint account for a family member who doesn't have a very good credit rating. If that family member misses mortgage payment, which I am not part of, could it hurt by credit rating? Thanks!

It will not effect you credit score, but it could effect your interest rate that your card charges you.

A lot of credit cards have in their terms and conditions that if you or anyone else on your account is late with some other lender then they have the right to increase your interest rate.

I have seen this happen more then once.
Reply:No, it will only hurt their credit rating.
Reply:No, Unless you are on that Mortgage Loan. I had a American Express card with an ex of mine and his good standing is on my credit. Everything else that was seperate stay's that way only the joint account will hurt you if it goes in bad standing its on both of your credit history's. I know I wouldnt help out family like that if they cant pay there house payment. You have GUTS.
Reply:No, it won't hurt your credit score. Just watch your joint account closely to be sure the payments are being made on time.
Reply:No. Your rating will remain intact because you are not on the mortgage. It will only effect the person on the mortgage with them. However make sure that they are making your credit card payments on time because if that's late, then of course that will affect your credit.
Reply:It should only hurt you if they default on the credit card.
